Victor:
(pacing nervously in the break room)
“Man… we’ve got a real problem. Amber knows about our plan.”
Co-Worker (Marcus):
(wide-eyed)
“Wait, what?! How? We were so careful, Victor!”
Victor:
(runs his hands through his hair)
“I don’t know. Maybe someone slipped. Maybe she overheard something. But she looked me dead in the eyes today… she knows.”
Marcus:
(whispering)
“Did she say anything directly?”
Victor:
(nodding)
“Yeah. She said, ‘Good luck pulling that stunt, Victor. I’m not stupid.’ Bro, she knows everything.”
Marcus:
(panicking a little)
“Man, this could ruin everything we set up! What are you gonna do?”
Victor:
(sighs deeply)
“I don’t know. I tried to play it off, act like she was overthinking, but… she’s not buying it. Amber’s smarter than we thought.”
Marcus:
(leaning closer)
“Should we change the plan? Maybe back off for a while?”
Victor:
(frustrated)
“I don’t think we have time. If we pull back now, it’ll look even more suspicious. I think we have to push forward… but carefully.”
Marcus:
(nervously tapping his foot)
“Carefully? Bro, she could blow this up any second! If she talks to the others—”
Victor:
(interrupting)
“She won’t. Not yet. She’s emotional, but she’s patient. That’s the worst part. She’s waiting for me to make a mistake.”
Marcus:
(whispering)
“You already made one, Vic. Now we gotta clean it up.”
Victor:
(grimly)
“I know. First step… damage control. I need to talk to her. Alone. Make her think it’s all a misunderstanding.”
Marcus:
(skeptical)
“You think she’ll buy that?”
Victor:
(shrugs)
“I have to try. If I don’t, everything we’ve worked for is finished.”
Marcus:
(sighing)
“Alright, man. Just be careful. One wrong word… and she’ll tear this whole thing apart.”
Victor:
(quietly, almost to himself)
“Yeah. I know. And when she does… it’ll be on me.”
